What Happened in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2, Episode 1?
The show picked up right after the first season finale to reveal that the surviving Fireflies know Joel was responsible for killing their members to save Ellie. Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), one of the survivors, makes a personal vow to kill Joel slowly.
Five years later, Joel and Ellie are living in Jackson, Wyoming, but their relationship is strained, and he is being overprotective of his surrogate daughter. Ellie encountered a new kind of infected that was smart enough to use stealth to overtake her. She only survived because of her immunity to the infection.
Ellie also formed a romantic connection with another young woman named Dina (Isabela Merced), which angered a homophobic man in the city. Ellie was more angry about Joel’s intervention than anything else. However, neither Joel nor Ellie realizes they have bigger problems on the horizon. The infected tendrils are closing in on Jackson, and so are Abby and her group.

What’s Going to Happen in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2, Episode 2?
HBO shared a trailer for the remaining episodes of The Last of Us season 2, so it’s hard to pin down exactly what’s coming up in episode 2. What we do know is that episode 2’s title is “Through the Valley.” There was a scene in the trailer that featured Joel and Ellie bonding over his guitar. Later, Joel was disturbed by the meaning of Ellie’s tattoo.
The footage also introduced militia leader Isaac Dixon (Jeffery Wright) and furthered Abby’s plan for revenge. More disturbingly, it appears that the entire town of Jackson is going to be under siege.

Catherine O’Hara is playing Gail, who serves as Joel’s therapist in Jackson. While Gail’s husband, Eugene, was only briefly seen in the game, Joe Pantoliano will play that character on the show. Gabriel Luna is reprising his season 1 role as Joel’s younger brother, Tommy.
