The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to acquire Gordon Hayward from the Charlotte Hornets for guard Tre Mann and forward Davis Bertans, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Hayward has been sidelined since Dec. 26 due to injuries in both legs, and the Hornets had not provided a timeline for his return. Hayward has struggled to stay healthy since breaking his leg in 2018; he has not played more than 50 games in the four years he’s been with the Hornets.
However, Hayward has remained productive when he’s been on the court, averaging 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 25 games this season. Over the last two seasons, Charlotte has been more than four points per 100 possessions better with Hayward on the floor.
Hayward is making $31.5 million this season, the last year of his deal, and is set to hit free agency this summer.
